Education News Broadway Licensing to Support High School Theatre Programs With 'Standing Ovation' Grant

One school will be selected to receive a $5,000 grant and a feature in the licensing company's upcoming educational catalogue.

Theatrical licensor Broadway Licensing, home to such musicals as A Bronx TaleThe Cher ShowHedwig and the Angry Inch, and Head Over Heels, will support exceptional educational high school theatre programs with a Standing Ovation grant. The new program will include a $5,000 grant and a feature in the licensor's upcoming educational catalogue for a winning entrant as well as $1,000 grants for three runner-up schools. 

Schools that have or will produce a Broadway Licensing show, including titles from their Playscripts and DPS imprints, during the 2021-2022 season will be eligible for the program. Interested educators are encouraged to submit a short essay describing how they have built an exceptional program exemplifying community and accessibility, aligning with Broadway Licensing's own values of innovation, advocacy, humility, transparency, partnership and collaboration, and inclusion.

Submissions will be accepted through April 30 with winners notified May 2.
