Ambrose will take on the iconic role of the legendary vaudeville comedienne, originated by Barbra Streisand in 1964, when the production begins performances at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre Jan. 15, 2012. Funny Girl will have an official opening Feb. 1, 2012 and run through Feb. 26.
"Let's face it, there is obviously more than a lot to live up to playing Fanny Brice, but I am humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to be a part of this revival," said Ambrose in a statement. "The character is complex, the music beautiful and challenging. I can't wait to get into that rehearsal room with the team Bart is assembling — wish we could start tomorrow!"
