The upcoming Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza's 1998 Tony winner Art—which will star James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris, and Bobby Cannavale—has found its design team.
The staging will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Jen Schriever, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman.
Scott Ellis (currently of Pirates! The Penzance Musical) is directing the revival, which will begin performances at the Music Box Theatre August 28 with an official opening September 16. The limited engagement will run until December 21.
This is the first Broadway revival of Reza's play, which was originally produced in French and then subsequently translated into English for Broadway by Christopher Hampton. The work is about three friends whose friendship is tested when one of them (Serge, to be played be Harris) buys an expensive painting that Marc (Cannavale) dislikes. The third friend, Yvan (Corden), is stuck in the middle. The original Broadway production had a similarly starry cast when it first ran on Broadway in 1998—that original production starred Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina (who received a Tony nomination for his performance).
The revival is being produced by Michael Shulman's Sand & Snow Entertainment, ATG Productions, and Gavin Kalin Productions. 101 Productions, Ltd will serve as executive producer and general managaer, and casting by is Jim Carnahan.
