Brian Cox is trading in Succession's Logan Roy for another patriarch, James Tyrone. It has been announced that Cox, Patricia Clarkson, and Alex Lawther will star in the West End production of Long Day's Journey into Night, which will begin previews at Wyndham’s Theatre on March 19, 2024 with an opening night slated for April 2, 2024. Jeremy Herrin will be at the helm.

The production marks Cox's first role on the West End in almost a decade. Patricia Clarkson joins Cox as matriarch Mary Tyrone, and Alex Lawther will play Edmund. Joining them are Daryl McCormack as James Jr. and Louisa Harland as Cathleen.

O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play chronicles a day in the life of a dysfunctional family: the Tyrones. Widely considered to be O'Neill's magnum opus, the play is closely based on his own family and experiences growing up, and was published posthumously in 1956. The production will feature design by Lizzie Clachan. The rest of the creative team will be announced soon.

The production will offer a total of 50 tickets at £25 for every performance, in addition to regularly priced tickets.
