News Braxton and Serabian to Star in Plagued! at NYMF Tony nominees Brenda Braxton and Lorraine Serabian will star in the New York Musical Theatre Festival's production of Plagued! — A Love Story, which begins Oct. 9 at TBG Theatre.

Samuel Buggeln will stage the production with musical direction by Zak Sandler. Performances run through Oct. 18.

Braxton (Smokey Joe's Café, Jelly's Last Jam) and Serabian (Zorba, Cabaret) will be joined onstage by Natalie Bradshaw, Julian Brightman (Hello Dolly), Pierce Cravens (Ragtime, Titanic), Dale Hensley (The Drowsey Chaperone), Gina Milo (Les Miserables), Jim Sorenson, La'Nette Searcy, Jason Simon and Rebecca Stavis.

Vynnie Meli penned book and lyrics for the musical that features a score by Casey L. Filiaci. Press notes for Plagued! read: "Cinderella marries Prince Charming and 20 years go by in a flash - or a flicker, this is the Dark Ages. Their curious daughter Dusty raises a lot of questions and more than a few eyebrows. Dusty's diva Queen Grandmother wants her married off as soon as possible, and she wants Cinderella to finally start acting like a princess. When sweet young Scoop collapses at the palace gates with news of the Plague sweeping the neighboring kingdoms, they have to hatch a plan. Is it too late for fairy godmothers?"

The NYMF engagement will have set design by Daniel Zimmerman, costume design by Janell Berte, lighting design by Dans Maree Sheehan and properties by Eric Reynolds.
