Bill Milner will star opposite the previously announced Olivier winner Sheila Hancock in the London premiere of Harold and Maude. Performances will begin February 19 at the Charing Cross Theatre, where the Thom Southerland-helmed production will officially open February 26 and run through March 31.
Milner recently appeared in the films Dunkirk and Netflix’s IBoy, as well as X-Men: First Class and Son of Rambow.
Joining the two are Rebecca Caine (Flowers for Mrs. Harris, Les Misérables), Anthony Cable (Charing Cross’ The Woman in White), Christopher Dickens and Joanna Hickman of Charing Cross’ Ragtime, Samuel Townsend (84 Charing Cross Road), Anne White (Love in the Past Particle), and Johnson Willis (Dido, Queen of Carthage).
Colin Higgins’ play, based on his screenplay for the 1971 dark comedy of the same name, explores the unlikely pairing of its two title characters: a compulsive and morbid 18-year-old (Milner) and a septuagenarian bohemian (Hancock).
The production will feature sets by Francis O’Connor, costumes by Jonathan Lipman, lighting design by Matt Clutterham, sound design by Andrew Johnson, and original music by Michael Bruce.
