Michael Ball and Rebecca Caine originated the roles of Marius and Cosette, respectively, in the 1985 London production. Ball, who has been seen on Broadway in
Aspects of Love and
The Woman in White, reprised his performance in the 10th anniversary concert cast. He is a two-time Olivier Award winner for
Hairspray and
Sweeney Todd. Caine reunited with her former cast members from the original London production of
Les Misérables in 2006 to sing "One Day More" after a performance in celebration of the show's 21st anniversary and again in 2010 to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary at the O2 Arena in London.
David Bryant and Judy Kuhn starred as Marius and Cosette, respectively, in the original Broadway company of
Les Misérables. Bryant has also been seen on Broadway in
Amadeus, Sunday in the Park With George and
Show Boat, and his producing credits include
A Tale of Two Cities and
A Time to Kill. Kuhn, who received a 1987 Tony nomination for her performance, also played Cosette in the 10th anniversary concert of
Les Miz. She is also a Tony nominee for
Chess and
She Loves Me and played Fantine in the 2006 Broadway revival of
Les Misérables.
Adam Jacobs and Ali Ewoldt were cast as Marius and Cosette in the 2006 Broadway revival. Jacobs, who currently stars in the title role in Disney's
Aladdin, has also been seen on Broadway in
The Lion King. Ewoldt, recently seen on the New York stage as Luisa in
The Fantasticks, also starred as Maria in the
West Side Story Broadway revival 1st national tour.
Nick Jonas and
Katie Hall co-starred in the 25th anniversary concert cast of
Les Misérables. Jonas, who made his Broadway debut in the original production of
Les Miz as Gavroche, has also been seen in
Beauty and the Beast, Annie Get Your Gun and
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Hall has also played the role of Cosette on tour, and she took on the role of Christine in the U.K. tour of
Andrew Lloyd Webber's
The Phantom of the Opera.
Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried played Marius and Cosette, respectively, in the star-studded film adaptation of Les Misérables. Redmayne won the 2010 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in the West End and Broadway productions of Red. Seyfried is best known for her performance in "Mean Girls" and has also been seen on film in "Mamma Mia!," "Jennifer's Body," "Chloe," "Dear John," "Letters to Juliet," "Red Riding Hood," "In Time" and "Gone," among others.

Ricky Martin was a replacement in the original Broadway production of
Les Misérables. Martin, who appeared on television on the Fox hit musical series "Glee," has also been seen as Che in
Evita. He is best known for his singing career, in which he rose to fame with his 1999 hit song "Livin' la Vida Loca."
Hugh Panaro, known for his performances as Raoul and The Phantom in
The Phantom of the Opera, was a replacement in the original Broadway production of
Les Misérables. He has also been seen on Broadway in
The Red Shoes, Show Boat, Side Show and
Lestat.
Tracy Shayne, who recently starred in the Broadway sports drama
Bronx Bombers, was a replacement for the role of Cosette in the original Broadway production. Her other Broadway credits include
A Chorus Line, The Phantom of the Opera and
Chicago.
Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, a replacement for the role of Cosette in the original Broadway production of
Les Miserables, has also played the role of Fantine in
Les Misérables at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA. She also played Ellen in the Broadway production of
Miss Saigon.
Ramin Karimloo, who currently stars as Jean Valjean — in his Broadway debut — in the 2014 revival of
Les Misérables, also made his West End debut in that musical, where he played Feuilly and understudied the roles of Marius and Enjolras. He later took over the role of Marius, and he has also been seen in the West End in
The Phantom of the Opera.
