The lushly scored classic about a tempestuous love affair between gruff carnival barker Billy Bigelow and the young mill worker Julie Jordan is staged Jan. 6 and 7 at 8 PM in the Eastman Theatre's Kodak Hall. Jeff Tyzik conducts, with stage direction by Doug LaBrecque.
Silber (Master Class, The Woman in White, Hello Again) takes on the role of Julie Jordan, which she previously played in London's West End and for L.A.'s Reprise Theatre Company. Crawford (Shrek, Les Miserables) appears as Billy Bigelow, with Ford (Phantom of the Opera, A Little Night Music) as Carrie Pipperidge and Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow, Wicked, Young Frankenstein) as Enoch Snow.
Carousel has music by Richard Rodgers with a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It is based on the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnar. The classic features such songs as "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," "What's the Use of Wondrin'?," "You'll Never Walk Alone," "Mr. Snow" and "Soliloquy."
