BBC's The Arts Hour will stage three shows in the U.S. this March with stops in New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles to celebrate the reemerging of theatre, film, and music in these cities, following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The free New York City presentation will be offered March 9 at 7 PM at Off-Broadway's New World Stages. Host Nikki Bedi will hold a discussion about equality, diversity, and inclusion in the arts. Joining her on stage will be Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre; Tony winner Rachel Chavkin, director of the Tony-winning musical Hadestown; and playwright Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu, author of the Broadway play Pass Over.
Other guests include Little Girl Blue's Laiona Michelle, as she takes host Bedi on a tour of Manhattan’s secret cultural locations, rapper Kemba, and The Late Late Show with James Corden writer Fumi Abe.
The Seattle show will be held March 12 at Rainier Arts Center, and the Los Angeles date is March 15 at Redcat Roy and Edna Disney/Calarts Theater.
Previous stops on The Arts Hour tour include Paris, Jerusalem, New Orleans, Berlin, and Lisbon.
