Directed by BSC artistic director Julianne Boyd, the Chekhov classic will run through Aug. 26 with an official opening Aug. 12. The company boasts Jack Gilpin (The Elephant Man, Beyond Therapy) as Vanya, Keira Naughton (BSC's Wonder of the World) as Sonya, Heidi Armbruster (Tea and Sympathy) as Yelena, Mark Montgomery (Mamma Mia!) as Astrov, Patricia Conolly (The Coast of Utopia) as Marina, Kenneth Tigar (Translations) as the Professor, Alaina Warren Zachary as Maria and Robert Grossman as Telegin. The Barrington production of Vanya features a translation by Paul Schmidt. Set in turn-of-the-century Russia, the play, according to press notes, "explores the unfulfilled hopes and unrequited love that surface when an aging professor and his beautiful young wife return home to his country estate."
The design team comprises Karl Eigsti (sets), Elizabeth Flauto (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lighting) and Matt Nielson (sound).
