NYC's Present Company will celebrate their first anniversary in their latest home (The Theatorium at 198 Stanton St.) with a special presentation of Parallel Exit's 108 Degrees, a set of urban stage cartoons [sic] previewing July 13-15, for a July 16 opening.
108 Degrees features an expanded presentation of the company's previous, critically-acclaimed curtain raiser, Velo/City, dubbed "a cross between a silent film and an aerobic workout." The new piece is an acrobatic, densely layered piece of dance-theatre that follows a day in the life of three below average business drones wordlessly dancing and tossing around briefcases in a near totalitarian landscape. Also featured in the production is A Tale of Two Sillies, created and performed by Amy Gordon and Michelle Matlock of Crossbreeding Productions.
The Present Company, producer of the New York International Fringe Festival, is celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of its new venue, the Theatorium, with this special presentation from Parallel Exit.
108 Degrees, a set of urban stage cartoons, is the third offering from the Toronto-based Parallel Exit. The company's previous work includes White/Noise/Jump (Best In The Fringe Festival, First Annual New York International Fringe Festival) and The Return Of Avante Vaudeville which included an early version of their acclaimed Velo/City.
