Shining Wit Performing Company in their new production is satirising Century of Celebrity with the world premiere of Dead. . .but Immortal a new rock musical in Perth, Australia.
When members of the struggling band 'Immortal' stage their own suicide to publicise the release of their first CD, the media hype generated catapults them from zeroes to heroes overnight. The boys take on the personas of their band managers and everything runs smoothly until they discover one fan who knows more about the band than the band itself.
Written by Travis Beasley and Paul Kooperman, Dead. . .but Immortal also offers an alternative to the 1980s-style mega-musicals that now seem to be on a downward spiral. With a cast of only three, the show takes the audience on an international tour from the grunge lifestyle of Roach and Chester to global super-mega stardom. All this . . . and dead too!
Venue: Hole in the Wall theatre Perth Season Oct. 3-25. Inquiries (08) 9228 9090.
