2022 Tony Honors have been announced, with the Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC); Broadway For All; Emily Grishman; Feinstein's/54 Below; and United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE receiving recognition. Established in 1990, Tony Honors are awarded annually to institutions, individuals, and organizations that demonstrate extraordinary achievement in theatre without being eligible in the competitive Tony Award categories.

“All five of this year’s honorees have made outstanding contributions to our Broadway community,” say Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin and American Theatre Wing President and CEO Heather Hitchens. “Their dedication, commitment, and support to the arts is now more important than ever, and we are thrilled to shine a light on these organizations at this year’s Tony Honors.”

AAPAC is being honored for its work to expand the perception of Asian American performers to increase access and representation, including the annual Visibility Report that tracks employment statistics on NYC stages by race.

Founded in 2012 by Osh Ashruf (Ghanimah), Broadway For All equips young artists and professionals with the programming, community, and vision to build a more inclusive and powerful arts industry, integrating teens of diverse socio-economic statuses, ethnic identities, and zip codes to foster discourse.

Emily Grishman is a longtime music copyist, providing written instrumental parts and full scores used by musicians and conductors in the orchestra pits of musicals on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and beyond. Grishman has worked on more than 130 Broadway productions during her long career.

Feinstein's/54 Below is a dine-in cabaret venue that offers a place for the community to celebrate Broadway performers, both established and new.

United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE is the national labor union and creative community of designers, scenic artists, and professionals working across the entertainment industry. The organization works to establish fair wages, negotiates health insurance and retirement benefits, and more. They are also dedicated to bolster an inclusive, anti-racist entertainment industry that can provide sustained and significant opportunities for underrepresented artists and workers on and off stage.

As announced earlier this year, the 75th Annual Tony Awards will return to its traditional summer time slot for the first time since 2019, with the Broadway League and American Theatre Wing setting the ceremony for June 12 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. Nominations for the honors will be announced May 9.

Following last year's two-part broadcast shared by CBS and streamer Paramount+, the 2022 Tony Awards will include an hour of exclusive programming streaming on Paramount+ June 12 from 7 PM ET, followed by the three-hour main awards ceremony airing live on CBS and streaming simultaneously on Paramount+ (for premium-level subscribers only) from 8 PM ET, making this year's ceremony the first in Tony Awards history to be available live nationwide. The broadcast will also be available to stream on demand on Paramount+ for all membership tiers following the live stream.
