Originally conceived in London in 1976, Side by Side by Sondheim, according to Attic notes, "features songs from earlier landmark Sondheim shows that ultimately revolutionized musical theatre – A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Anyone Can Whistle, Pacific Overtures – as well as classics from West Side Story, Gypsy and Do I Hear a Waltz? – penned by Sondheim in collaboration with musical theatre legends as Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne and Richard Rodgers, to name a few.
"Exploring common themes prevalent in many of Sondheim's works: love, loss, marriage, relationships, disillusionment and acceptance, Side by Side by Sondheim is an urban, sophisticated revue filled with heart and humor that offers a glimpse into the creativity, wit and genius that is Stephen Sondheim."
