Off-Broadway News Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Leland Fowler, Matthew Griffin, More to Star in This Land Was Made at Vineyard Theatre

Directed by Taylor Reynolds, the Tori Sampson world premiere will open this summer.

Initial cast and creative team members have been announced for the world premiere of Tori Sampson's This Land Was Made, which will open Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre. Directed by Taylor Reynolds, This Land Was Made will begin previews May 18, with opening night set for June 4.

Starring will be Antoinette Crowe-Legacy as Sassy, Leland Fowler as Drew, Matthew Griffin as Troy, Sean Patrick Higgins as Officer Heanes, Yasha Jackson as Gail, Ezra Knight as Mr. Far, Julian Elijah Martinez as Huey, Curt Morlaye as Gene, and Oliver Palmer as Officer Frey. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The production will also feature scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Dominique Fawn Hill, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Fan Zhang, and movement direction by Adesola Osakalumi. Casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein and The Telsey Office/Destiny LillyAnne McPherson will serve as Production Stage Manager.

Set in a bar in Oakland in 1967, the new play looks at a time when the city was a powder keg of social activism ready to boil over into radical action. How will the patrons of Miss Trish’s bar react when the "seductive and explosive force of revolution walks through the door?"
