New Musicals at 54 continues at cabaret hotspot Feinstein's/54 Below with a concert presentation of Kirsten Childs’ Funked Up Fairy Tales May 31 at 7 PM. The one-night-only event is directed by Jerry Dixon and features Ann Harada, Felicia Finley, Demond Green, Kenita R. Miller and Kimberly Thomas.

The musical offers a unique twist on a collection of urban fairy tales. According to Feinstein's/54 Below, the show introduces audiences to three teenage fairies with attitude: Titania, Faireetheeya and Magikwanda. “They wag their heads and suck their teeth as they turn things upside down to pass their Fairyland Academy exam. Will they pull through with flying colors and earn their Happy Ending Crowns?” ask production notes.

The new musical enjoyed workshops or development at NAMT, Barrington Stage, Sundance and Manhattan Theatre Club.

New Musicals at 54 is presented by the venue's programming director, Jennifer Ashley Tepper. The series kicked off January 19.
