Big Fish, which ended its Broadway run Dec. 29, 2013, features music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony nominee Lippa with a book by Grammy and BAFTA Award nominee August. It opened Oct. 6 at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, following previews that began Sept. 5.
The production featured musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by Larry Hochman and dance arrangements by Sam Davis. It was directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Susan Stroman.
Broadway Records recently released the cast recording of the world-premiere musical that starred two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz as story-spinner Edward Bloom.
"I fell in love with 'Big Fish' the moment I saw it on screen and knew it would make a sensational musical," Lippa said in a statement. "I got the opportunity to tell the story of this family and their triumphs and tears along with the fantastical stories Edward Bloom spins. TRW is currently readying materials for the production in anticipation of a fall availability for schools, community and professional theatres. Perusal scripts are currently available. TRW also licenses Lippa's Tony-nominated musical The Addams Family.
