Casting is complete for the upcoming world premiere of Talene Monahon’s Meet the Cartozians, which will kick off Second Stage Theater's 47th season, the first under the leadership of Artistic Director Evan Cabnet and Executive Director Adam Siegel.
Directed by Tony winner David Cromer (Dead Outlaw), previews will begin October 29 prior to an official opening Off-Broadway November 17 at the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
The company will be led by Raffi Barsoumian (Les Liaisons Dangereuses), Tony winner Will Brill (Stereophonic), two-time Tony winner Andrea Martin (Pippin), Nael Nacer (Prayer for the French Republic), Obie winner Susan Pourfar (Mary Jane), and Tamara Sevunts (Daybreak).
Billed as "part riveting historical drama, part scorching satire," Meet the Cartozians follows two sets of Armenian Americans: one man fighting for legal recognition in the 1920s, while a century later, his descendant fights for followers and a competent glam team.
The upcoming production will also have scenic design by Tatiana Kahvegian, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design Stacey Derosier, voice and dialect coaching by Gigi Buffington, and casting by Daniel Swee. Additional members of the creative team will be announced at a later date.
Playwright Monahon's works also include The Good John Proctor, Jane Anger, How to Load a Musket, and Frankie & Will.
