Convention, written by Danny Rocco and directed by Shannon Fillon, began its engagement at Brooklyn's Irondale Center June 7, with performances set to continue through June 29. The play, produced by Brontosaurus Haircut Productions, tells the "true-and-overlooked story" of what happened at the 1944 Democratic National Convention, when Franklin D. Roosevelt chose his running mate for Vice President — which, due to his rapidly failing health, meant also choosing the person who would inevitably become President upon Roosevelt's impending death.
Convention was commissioned and developed at the Atlantic Acting School, where it received two workshop productions at the historic Linda Gross Theater in Chelsea.
The production features Brandt Adams, Ashley Alvarez, Claire Anderson, Christina Bottley, Paul Blaise Corning, Charles Everett, Alaina Fragoso, Kyle Fitzpatrick, Ginnie House, Greg Hudson, Matt Hurley, Nina Kova, Michael Leon, Kathleen Littlefield, Sue Kim, Ally Musmeci, Michael Pantozzi, McLean Peterson, Catherine Pulley, Jessica Rogers, Becca Schneider, Danny Serpati, Lizzie Stewart, Sarah Sutliff, and Adrienne Witt.
