The Amoralists have unveiled their 11th season, titled: Ricochet: An Amoralists Anthology about Surviving an American Epidemic. The season will feature four original, intersecting plays that follow a community as it copes with the aftermath of a mass shooting, penned by playwrights Gabriel Jason Dean (Terminus), Charly Evon Simpson ( Jump), and James Anthony Tyler (Some Old Black Man).
Dean, Simpson, and Tyler are members of The Amoralists' 2018–2019 writers' group, Wright Club. Over the course of the year and in conversation with The Amoralists' ensemble of artists, each playwright will craft a play in their unique style.
The first play, by Dean, will be directed by Kimille Howard and will run August 2–5 at Walkerspace; the second play, by Simpson, will be directed by Kate Moore Heaney and will run October 4–7 at New Ohio Theatre; and the third play, by Tyler, will be directed by Bianca Laverne Jones and will run December 13–16 at Teatro Latea at The Clemente.
A fourth play, collaboratively written by all three playwrights, will debut next spring at a venue to be announced.
The season will also include four complementary original graphic novels created by Danica Novgorodoff.
