Film producer Barnaby Thompson is working on a new film documentary centered on the life of English theatrical icon Noël Coward. Titled Mad About the Boy - The Noël Coward Story, the film is expected to release in 2023, marking 50 years since Coward's passing in 1973, according to a report in Variety.

American Idol winner and stage alum Adam Lambert has covered Coward's "Mad About the Boy" for the upcoming documentary, and those interested to hear it won't have to wait—the single is set to drop October 7.

A true multi-hyphenate, Coward's career saw him work as a playwright, composer, director, actor, and singer, and his legendary wit remains often quoted. With a Broadway career dating back as far as 1924, his works include Hay FeverPrivate LivesDesign for LivingBlithe SpiritPresent Laughter, and Sail Away, many of which are still frequently staged today. He was also a prolific songwriter, with titles including "I Went to a Marvelous Party," "If Love Were All," "Mad Dogs and Englishmen," and "London Pride."
