A Musical About Star Wars—or Why Star Wars is the Greatest Thing in the Galaxy, Much Much Better than Star Trek has extended the run of its Off-Broadway return. The production will now run through January 21, 2024.
Beginning performances at AMT Theater July 7, the engagement features the return of original cast member and co-writer Taylor Crousore as Scott, the Gen X-Winger, joined by Stone Mountain as Taylor, the Millennial Falcon; and Maggie McDowell as the political “actor-vist” Emily.
In A Musical About Star Wars, Taylor and Scott find themselves bonding in a Staten Island Blockbuster Video over their love of the Star Wars films. Together the self-proclaimed “Millennial Falcon” and “Gen-X Winger” create a musical that celebrates the magic, the fandom, and the legacy of all things Star Wars. That is, until their co-star—an actor, activist, and recent graduate of AMDA—makes a startling admission.
The musical previously enjoyed successful 2019 engagements Off-Broadway at Theatre Row and St. Luke's Theatre. The musical's second Off-Broadway run was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Created by Tom D’Angora (the producer behind Off-Broadway's The Marvelous Wonderettes and NEWSical The Musical), A Musical About Star Wars recently played Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood.
A Musical About Star Wars is written by D’Angora, Crousore, and Scott Richard Foster. The original score and lyrics are by Billy Recce. The production is directed by Tom and Michael D'Angora, with choreography by Ashley Marinelli.
