When Broadway's Leslie Odom, Jr. croons "Please Come Home for Christmas," he makes a pretty convincing case. The pining holiday tune was written in 1960 by blues singer Charles Brown. Odom included the song on his 2017 album of jazz interpretations of Christmas standards, Simply Christmas. Watch the official video above and pretend Odom, Jr. is singing to you (we know we are).
Odom, Jr. is currently starring on Broadway as the title character in the comedy Purlie Victorious. He plays a southern preacher who has returned to his family home to buy the community church from a plantation owner. The Ossie Davis play premiered in 1961. The revival runs through February 4 at the Music Box Theatre.
