Winners included Edward Albee's Tony-winning The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, which received the prize for Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway & Off-Broadway; and the new Off-Broadway musical Zanna, Don't!, which nabbed the award for Outstanding New York Theater: Off-Off-Broadway. Terrence McNally’s Corpus Christi was honored with the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Washington D.C. Theater. Awards were also presented to Rosie O'Donnell (the Vito Russo Award) and Diane Sawyer (Excellence in Media Award).
Additional GLAAD Media Awards will be presented in two separate ceremonies: April 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, CA and May 31 at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, CA.
GLAAD is dedicated to promoting fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
