During Week 6 of The Voice UK’s blind auditions, judge/coach Jennifer Hudson burst into song after being encouraged by the live audience. What did she pick? None other than Man of La Mancha’s “The Impossible Dream.”
Hudson got her start on another reality singing competition, American Idol, but has since gone on to win an Oscar for her performance as Effie White in the film adaptation of Dreamgirls and made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Shug Avery opposite Cynthia Erivo in The Color Purple. In December 2016, she took on the role of Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray Live! on NBC. Hudson has been cast as Grizabella for the upcoming film adaptation of Cats, currently in production in London.
Lupita Nyong'o, Katrina Lenk, Jelani Alladin, and more were on hand to celebrate the October 31 opening night of Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs' new musical.
