Hailey Kilgore, who earned a Tony nomination for her performance as Ti Moune in the first Broadway revival of Once On This Island, sings the soaring “Waiting for Life” in the recording studio in the new video above.
The new immersive production of Once On This Island, which was re-imagined by Tony-nominated director Michael Arden, officially opened December 3, 2017, at Circle in the Square. The musical features a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, the Tony-winning writing team behind Ragtime and Anastasia.

The score has been rebuilt through the use of multi-layered vocal orchestrations, along with instruments made out of found objects, including trash bins and flexible piping. The new charts are the work of Once on This Island’s original orchestrator, Tony Award winner Michael Starobin, and vocal arranger AnnMarie Milazzo.
The current company includes Tony nominee Hailey Kilgore as Ti Moune, Quentin Earl Darrington as Agwe, Tamyra Gray as Papa Ge, Darlesia Cearcy as Erzulie, Tony nominee Phillip Boykin as Tonton Julian, Kenita R. Miller as Mama Euralie, and Isaac Powell as Daniel.
