Tooting Arts Club’s immersive London production of the Stephen Sondheim-Harold Wheeler musical Sweeney Todd, which premiered in a Fringe run at Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop prior to a 2015 West End transfer, will arrive Off-Broadway this winter at the Barrow Street Theatre.
London critics praised the sold-out staging. Bill Buckhurst directs the production that utilizes a cast of eight to tell the tale of the demon barber of Fleet Street. It is designed by Simon Kenny. The Barrow Street Theatre will be transformed to mirror the experience of Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop, the oldest continuously operating pie shop in Britain.
Pie and mash will be served prior to each performance.
Sweeney Todd will begin previews February 14, 2017, with an official opening night set for March 1.
