Loretta Ables Sayre, who earned a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Bloody Mary in Lincoln Center Theater’s acclaimed 2008 revival of South Pacific, will celebrate her 60th birthday with two concerts at Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki April 1 at 6:30 PM and 9 PM.
The Hawaii native dazzled Broadway audiences nightly with her performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Bali H’ai,” remaining with South Pacific for the duration of its Tony-winning, two-and-a-half year run. She made her West End debut with the production when it transferred to London in 2011.
Ables Sayre will perform a set of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook with musicians Jim Howard on piano, Dean Taba on bass, and Darryl Pellegrini on drums. She will be joined by guest artist Robert Cazimero.
In addition to her accomplished concert career, Ables Sayre has appeared in You Somebody at Hawaii's Diamond Head Theatre, as well as Effie White in the Hawaii mounting of Dreamgirls.
Tickets, priced $15–$35, are available at bluenotehawaii.com.
