Inspired by the Women's March earlier this year, Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 ensemble members Cathryn Wake, Mary Page Nance, and Lauren Zakrin have banded together to create and perform the ultimate feminist anthem: a song titled “Pussy Power.” Watch the brand-new music video for the track, which features cameo appearances from fellow Broadway actor Carolee Carmello, Great Comet Tony nominee Denée Benton and several members of The Great Comet cast and crew, above.
The women first performed the song at a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below. “Pussy Power” was recorded at Threshold Recording Studios NYC with James Walsh, and was mixed/mastered by Neil Reynolds; the music video is directed and edited by Maddy Talias.

“While I don't claim to be some big shot gender studies expert, I do know what it's like to be a woman and how it feels to be weakened by others,” wrote Nance in a public Facebook post. “And I REALLY don't like it when people say they can grab me ANYWHERE, let alone somewhere so sacred. We created ’Pussy Power’ to be a comedic anthem reclaiming the word ’pussy’ while celebrating female empowerment.“
The song will soon be available via Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, and Bandcamp. Wake, Nance, and Zakrin have decided to make the song available for free to encourage listeners to donate the money saved to a women’s organization of their choice.
