The New Group's world-premiere production of Sharr White’s The True opened Off-Broadway September 20. In the new play, Edie Falco (The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) stars as Dorothea "Polly” Noonan, the blunt, profane, decades-long defender of Albany’s Democratic Party machine.
Directed by Artistic Director Scott Elliott, the show began previews September 4 at The Pershing Square Signature Center in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, where the production has been extended through October 28.
Completing the cast Off-Broadway are Austin Cauldwell, Glenn Fitzgerald, Michael McKean, John Pankow, Peter Scolari, and Tracy Shayn.
