Performances begin September 25 at Ars Nova for the Off-Broadway company's first show of the season: Andrew R. Butler's sci-fi musical Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future.
In Rags Parkland, set 250 years in the future, humans are built in black market labs, and Mars is a forced labor camp where underground outlaws are planning a rebellion. The new musical is created by Butler and directed by Jordan Fein (Singlet).
Leading the cast are Butler and Stacey Sargeant. They are joined by Rick Burkhardt, Tony Jarvis, Jessie Linden, and Debbie Christine Tjong.
Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future is playing a limited run at Ars Nova on 54th Street, where the show will officially open October 8.
The creative team includes Madeline Smith (music director), Laura Jellinek (scenic design), Andy Jean (costume design), Barbara Samuels (lighting design), Mikaal Sulaiman (sound design), Jhanaë K-C Bonnick (production stage manager), John C. Moore (assistant stage manager) and Henry Russell Berrgstein, CSA (casting director).
