New Light Theater Project will present the world premiere of The Property, a new play by Ben Josephson, directed by Off-Broadway stalwart Robert Kalfin (founder of the Chelsea Theatre Center). The play will run June 16–July 14 at The Clurman Theatre and will star Rachel Botchan (God of Vengeance at La MaMa).
Botchan will play Irene, a back-office bank manager who senses her family's financial security is in danger. In trying to fight this, Irene ends up affecting the lives of four men: two she has loved, and one is she tempted towards, as well as the teenage son whose life she is trying to salvage.
The Property will mark Josephson's New York debut. Completing the cast will be Phil Gillen, Warren Kelley, John Long, Sam Tsoutsouvas, and Matthew ZanFagna.
The production will feature scenic and prop design by Caitlynn Barrett, lighting design by Paul Hudson, costume design by Gail Cooper-Hecht, and sound and projection design by Andy Evan Cohen. Casting is by Irene Stockton, CSA.
