St. Ann's Warehouse and producer Eva Price celebrate the official opening of Bard SummerScape's Oklahoma! at the Brooklyn theatre October 7. The production is directed by Daniel Fish and makes its Off-Broadway debut following a sold-out run at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College in 2015.
The production’s original cast members—Damon Daunno (Curly), Patrick Vaill (Jud Fry), Mary Testa (Aunt Eller), Mallory Portnoy (Gertie Cummings), and James Davis (Will Parker)—return for the St. Ann's production. They are joined by new cast members Rebecca Naomi Jones as Laurey, Ali Stroker as Ado Annie, Anthony Cason as Cord, Michael Nathanson as Ali Hakim, Will Mann as Mike, and Mitch Tebo as Annie's father.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1943 musical Oklahoma! features music by Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Hammerstein II (based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs) with original dances by Agnes de Mille.
The Off-Broadway run features choreography by John Heginbotham and new music arrangements by Daniel Kluger, performed by a seven-piece band. Performances began September 27.
The production is presented by Price and St. Ann’s Warehouse and following an extension, will continue through November 11.
