The Vineyard Theatre celebrates the official opening of Ngozi Anyanwu's Good Grief October 30. Inspired by Anyanwu's own life, and in which the actor-playwright also stars, the play tells the coming-of-age story of a Nigerian-American girl navigating love, friendship, and loss in her home in Pennsylvania’s suburbs.
Good Grief began performances October 11 and is directed by Awoye Timpo, who helmed the acclaimed premiere of Anyanwu's play The Homecoming Queen last season.
Completing the cast of the New York premiere are Oberon K.A. Adjepong, Nnamdi Asomugha, Patrice Johnson Chevannes, Hunter Parrish, Ian Quinlan, and Lisa Ramirez.
Anyanwu's other plays include Victory Is Ours, and Nike or We Don't Need Another Hero, which was recently workshopped at The New Black Fest.
Tickets to Good Grief and more information are available online at VineyardTheatre.org or by calling the box office at (212) 353-0303.
