Jeff Biehl (Machinal), Michael Esper (Lazarus), and Jeanine Serralles (Don’t You F***ing Say A Word) will star in the world premiere of Mia Chung's play Catch As Catch Can this fall. The Page 73 production will play in the New Ohio Theatre with direction by Ken Rus Schmoll (Judy, Grounded).
In Chung's new play, six characters are brought to life by three actors playing across gender and generation. Set in working class New England, Catch As Catch Can tells the story of two families that have weathered the good and the bad side by side. But Tim Phelan’s homecoming sets off a spiraling crisis that strains their hold on each other—and themselves.
Biehl will play Robbie/Roberta, Esper will play Tim/Theresa, and Serralles will play Lon/Daniela.
Performances of Catch As Catch Can will begin October 22 ahead of an October 31 opening. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through November 17.
Chung's plays include You for Me for You and This Exquisite Corpse. You for Me for You had a U.K. premiere at the Royal Court Theatre, a US premiere at Woolly Mammoth Theatre in DC, and multiple productions around the country,
Page 73 is now in its 20th year of supporting early-career playwrights producing their professional debuts in the city. Past premieres include the work of Pulitzer Prize-winner Quiara Alegría Hudes, Sam Hunter, Clare Barron, and Leah Nanako Winkler among others.
