A Christmas Story, based on the 1983 holiday film, premiered on Broadway in November 2012. The score earned Benj Pasek and Justin Paul their first Tony nomination; the two went on to win earlier this year for Dear Evan Hansen—after picking up an Oscar for their work on La La Land. The TV presentation will feature additional material from the song-writing duo.

Rudolph received an Emmy nomination in 2012 for her hosting stint on Saturday Night Live—a series she first appeared in in 2000 before becoming a long-running cast member and a regularly returning favorite. Her additional film credits include Bridesmaids, Up All Night, Sisters, and the variety series Maya & Marty opposite Martin Short.

Additional casting for the project, executive-produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, will be announced later. Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary serve as co-executive producers and writers, adapting the Joseph Robinette-penned book.

The musical follows the Emmy-winning Grease: Live, which marked Fox's first live musical. The network is also at work on a live presentation of Rent.
