Performances begin September 7 at The Duke on 42nd Street for the world premiere of Jonathan Payne’s The Revolving Cycles Truly and Steadily Roll'd, directed by Awoye Timpo in a production from The Playwrights Realm.
Described as part social satire and part detective story, the new play follows Karma (played by Kara Young), a teenage girl searching for her missing foster brother in the Oblong—a fictional inner city isolated by poverty.
The cast also includes Lynda Gravátt, Kenneth Tigar, Deonna Bouye, Toni Ann Denoble, Donnell E Smith, Keith Randolph Smith, and James Udom.
The Revolving Cycles Truly and Steadily Roll'd is scheduled to run through October 6 with an official opening set for September 19.
The creative team for the Off-Broadway production is made up of Kimie Nishikawa (set design), Stacey Derosier (lighting design), Lisa Renkel (projections), Buddhabug Records (sound design), Andrea Hood (costumes), Alexander Wylie (props), and Kara Kaufman (stage manager)
