Tony-winning writer and original star of Hamilton on Broadway Lin-Manuel Miranda released the final track in his #HamilDrop series on Twitter December 20, which you can listen to above. The release features a new remix of "One Last Time" featuring Hamilton's original George Washington Christopher Jackson, gospel singer Bebe Winans, and President Barack Obama. The track is available on all digital and streaming platforms.
The President, a noted fan of Hamilton who also hosted the first public performance of any of its material at the White House in 2009, reads from Washington's Farewell Address of 1796 on the track.
Miranda's #HamilDrop series has offered new Hamilton-inspired songs and remixes monthly throughout 2018. Entries have included Weird Al Yankovic's "The Hamilton Polka," Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt dueting on a mashup of "The Story of Tonight" and "You Will Be Found," and an original song written with Chicago and Cabaret composer John Kander.
This release drops as Miranda prepares to return to Hamilton's title role, a performance that earned him a 2016 Tony nomination. The multi award-winning writer and performer will join the cast of Hamilton's run in Puerto Rico, which begins January 8, 2019.
