A Bronx Tale The Musical comes to Broadway with Ariana DeBose, Bobby Conte Thornton and Nick Cordero leading the cast. Cordero reprises the role of Sonny from the Paper Mill production, while DeBose and Thornton are newly-added leads.
The musical is based on Chazz Palminteri’s one man show that recounts his experiences growing up in a rough and tumble neighborhood packed with colorful characters and dangerous wiseguys.
The book is by Palminteri. The early 1960s pop-influenced songs are by the team of Alan Menken (music) and Glenn Slater (lyrics). Jerry Zaks co-directs along with Robert De Niro, who directed and starred in the 1993 film adaptation of the show.
Performances begin November 3 at the Longacre Theatre. The show officially opens on December 1.
