The Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Tom Stoppard’s Tony-winning play Travesties began performances March 29 at the American Airlines Theatre. The revival arrives on Broadway following a run in the West End and with the show’s London star, Tom Hollander, reprising his starring role as Henry Carr.

Travesties is directed by Tony nominee Patrick Marber. The production will officially open April 24, and is scheduled to play through June 17.

Completing the cast are Peter McDonald as James Joyce, Seth Numrich (War Horse) as Tristan Tzara, Scarlett Strallen (She Loves Me in the West End) as Gwendolen, Sara Topham (Saint Joan) as Cecily, Opal Alladin (Hedda Gabler) as Nadya, Dan Butler as Lenin, and Patrick Kerr (The Ritz) as Bennett.

Set in 1917 Zurich, Travesties is about a British military official (Hollander) who recalls serving in Zurich while James Joyce and Vladimir Lenin were also there. He imagines a meeting between the two men, which is performed in the style of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.

The Broadway revival features set and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design and original music by Adam Cork, and movement by Polly Bennett.
