Stage to Page Exclusive: Watch A.J. Holmes Sing ’I Stole a Bus’ From Bubble Boy Musical The song was penned by Cinco Paul.
Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio—the screenwriters of the animated films The Secret Life of Pets, Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, and Despicable Me 1, 2 & 3—have written Bubble Boy, a new musical based on their own cult movie from 2001.

In the video above, created by Paul and Daurio, A.J. Holmes (The Book of Mormon) performs Paul’s “I Stole a Bus” from the musical.

The original cast recording of Bubble Boy, featuring Holmes, Alice Ripley (Next to Normal), Richard Kind (Cars, A Bug’s Life, Mad About You), and Matt Doyle (Spring Awakening, Book of Mormon, Sweeney Todd), is available from Ghostlight Records.

Bubble Boy tells the story of Jimmy Livingston, a boy born without immunities who has spent his entire life confined inside a plastic bubble room. Enter Chloe, the girl next door, who becomes his friend and steals his heart. When she leaves town to get married, Jimmy travels cross-country in a homemade bubble suit in order to stop the wedding and finally tell her how he feels.
