Artists including Ethan Hawke, Karen Akers, Jayne Houdyshell, and Daniel Jenkins, will gather for The Inauguration of Hope: A Response at the Cathedral, an evening created to address the nation’s current political climate. It will take place at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine January 23 at 7 PM.
Created in partnership with Poetry for Peace, and featuring songs, poems, and literature chosen and presented by professional performers, the evening “recognizes our need to assemble and recommit to the values for which America stands—from the dignity of every human being to the important role of the arts in speaking out to our common humanity.”
The evening is co-curated by Poetry for Peace founder, actor Anthony Newfield.
Participating artists also include Kate Abbruzzese, Marlon Cherry, Jennifer Fouché, Michael B. French, Delphi Harrington, Jill Larson, Kathleen McNenny, Jim Morgan, Mark Nadler, Terre Roche, Shezi Sardar, A.J. Shively, Peter von Berg, and Cathedral artists-in-residence Marilyn Nelson and Paul Winter.
The Inauguration of Hope is free to all with no reservations required. The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine is located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at West 112th Street.
