In Nothin’ But Soul, contestants will pay homage to soul and R&B legends who have graced the Apollo stage.

Cox starred on Broadway in Aida and Jekyll & Hyde; in the world of music, she is well known for her 1998 breakout song “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” and has had numerous chart-topping hits.

“Every year, during Black Music Month, we celebrate Amateur Night’s musical roots with our contestants all performing classic soul and R&B songs as a way of rekindling and preserving the rich musical history of soul music and its pioneers. We’re talking classics like James Brown, Chaka Khan, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and more,” said Amateur Night producer Marion J. Caffey. “And we are excited to welcome our special guest artist, Deborah Cox back to the Apollo stage. She’s a multi-talented artist and an incredible performer. It’s sure to be a soulful night!”

Amateur Night has been running at the Apollo since 1934. Tickets begin at $20 and are available at The Apollo Theater Box Office, located at 253 West 125th Street, by calling (212) 531-5305, and Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or visiting ticketmaster.com. Amateur Night’s 2016–17 season runs through November 23 on Wednesday nights at 7:30 PM.
