BroadwayHD, the live streaming service that also offers subscribers unlimited access to an on-demand library of over 160 theatre productions, has announced premiere dates for three new additions: Disney’s Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall, Daddy Long Legs, and On the Exhale.
Celebrating over two decades of Disney theatrical shows, Disney's Broadway Hits will be available beginning May 15. The October 2016 performance features the London cast of Aladdin, Ashley Brown and Scarlett Strallen (who both played the title character in Mary Poppins), Tony- and Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, Merle Dandridge (Aida, Tarzan), Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King), and Josh Strickland (Tarzan).
Daddy Long Legs, which was filmed in 2015, will be available starting June 12. The musical—the first Off-Broadway show to ever be live-streamed worldwide—is set in turn-of-the-century New England and concerns a romance that spans several years that is developed through letters. Featuring music and lyrics by Tony nominee Paul Gordon and a book by Tony winner John Caird, the two-hander stars Megan McGinnis and her real-life husband, Adam Halpin.
Tony nominee Marin Ireland stars in On the Exhale, which was captured earlier this year, and will debut on BroadwayHD June 19. Tony nominee Leigh Silverman directs Martín Zimmerman's solo piece, which made its world premiere for Roundabout Underground. The play concerns a random act of gun violence that tears one woman’s world apart. She finds herself caught in the crosshairs of power lost and, possibly, regained.
