Three-time Tony Award recipient Chita Rivera will be honored with the Broadway Beacon Awards’ inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award April 8 at the JW Marriott Essex House.
Administered by Inside Broadway, the non-profit organization that brings theatre to more than 70,000 New York City school students each year, the Beacon Awards recognize the work of individuals who have been advocates for increasing audiences for live theatre and understand the importance of the arts in the lives of NYC students.
The gala evening will also honor Broadway scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, Today Show host and recent Waitress star Al Roker, Patricia White (President, Theatrical Wardrobe Local 764 IATSE) and Brian Tormey (President, TitleVest Insurance Company).
Students from IS 278, Marine Park, Brooklyn, will perform during the evening that is hosted by FOX5 entertainment reporter Baruch Shemtov.
Lupita Nyong'o, Katrina Lenk, Jelani Alladin, and more were on hand to celebrate the October 31 opening night of Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs' new musical.
