A host of stage favorites navigate explosive intensity (literally and figuratively) in the first trailer for Widows. The upcoming film from director Steve McQueen and Gillian Flynn boasts a cast that includes Tony and Oscar winner Viola Davis and The Color Purple Tony winner Cynthia Erivo.
Inspired by a 1980s British series, the film is set in modern-day Chicago and follows four women who, all left with a debt after their dead husbands’ failed heist, band together to put their future in their own hands. “The best thing we have going for us is being who we are…because no one thinks we have the balls to pull this off,” Davis’ Veronica says in the trailer above.
The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, 2018 Tony nominee Bryan Tyree Henry, Tony nominee and 2018 Lucille Lortel Award winner Carrie Coon, André Holland, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, and Daniel Kaluuya.Widows is set to premiere November 16.
