Manhattan Concert Production’s concert staging of The Scarlet Pimpernel, starring Laura Osnes, Tony Yazbeck, Norm Lewis, and more, played Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall February 18. The one-night-only presentation, directed by Gabriel Barre, was a part of the company’s seventh annual presentation in its Broadway Series.
With music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics and book by Nan Knighton, The Scarlet Pimpernel is based on Baroness Orczy’s 20th-century novel of the same name, which takes place at the peak of the French Revolution and the fight for liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Joining Yazbeck as Percy Blakeney and Osnes as Marguerite were Lewis as Chauvelin, Corey Cott as Armand, Dana Costello as Marie, and Drew Gehling as the Prince of Wales/Robespierre. Rounding out the cast are Alex Newell, Kevin Duda, Chris Dwan, John Treacy Egan, Kevin Kern, Ashley Loren, Eliseo Roman, Yasmeen Sulieman, Ashley Blanchet, TyNia Brandon, Alysha Deslorieux, and Sara Sheperd.

The concert featured musical direction by Jason Howland as well as a chorus of over 200 singers from across the country in addition to the New York City Chamber Orchestra.
