The New York premiere of Carla Ching’s Nomad Motel opens at Atlantic Theater Company June 3 after beginning preview performances May 22. The production, directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, is scheduled to play a limited engagement though June 23.
Lead by Hello, Dolly!’s Molly Griggs and Fast Company’s Christopher Larkin, Nomad Motel tells the story kids raising themselves and trying to make something out of nothing in the not-so-sunny side of California; lix (Griggs) bounces between motel rooms trying to care for her brothers in her mother's absence; meanwhile her classmate Mason (Larkin), is a budding songwriter trying to keep off the radar of his absent father in Hong Kong.

Nomad Motel also stars Samantha Mathis (Billions), Andrew Pang (After the Quake), and Ian Duff (If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhfucka).
The production features scenic design by Yu-Hsuan Chen, costume design by Loren Shaw, lighting design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound design and original compositions by Emily Gardner Xu Hall, fight direction by Ryan-James Hatanaka, dialect coaching by Joy Lanceta Coronel, and casting by Stephanie Yankwitt, CSA; Margaret Dunn.
Nomad Motel was first produced as a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere by City Theatre Company (Pennsylvania), Horizon Theatre Company (Georgia), and Unicorn Theatre (Missouri).
