The national tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic book, launched September 21 in Buffalo, New York at Shea's Performing Arts Center.
With direction by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features music by Grammy, Emmy, and Tony winner Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Grammy and Tony winners Scott Wittman and Shaiman, a book by David Greig, choreography by Tony nominee and Emmy winner Joshua Bergasse, and additional songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley from the 1971 Warner Bros. motion picture.
The 36-member cast cast includes Noah Weisberg as Willy Wonka, Henry Boshart, Collin Jeffery, and Rueby Wood as Charlie, James Young as Grandpa Joe, Amanda Rose as Mrs. Bucket, Jessica Cohen as Veruca Salt, Madeleine Doherty as Mrs. Teavee, Kathy Fitzgerald as Mrs. Gloop, Nathaniel Hackmann as Mr. Salt, Daniel Quadrino as Mike Teavee, David Samuel as Mr. Beauregarde, Brynn Williamsas Violet Beauregarde, and Matt Wood as Augustus Gloop.
