Theatre for the New City will present the seventh annual Dream Up festival August 28-September 18. The line-up includes 19 new plays, musicals, dance pieces, solo and interdisciplinary works.
The festival is billed as a “feast of adventurous theatre,” from across the country and from around the world. All of the productions are either world premieres or Off-Broadway debuts.
The line-up includes Robby Ramos’ Alpha 66, about a Cuban family called in for interrogation during Fidel Castro’s regime; Lured, Frank J. Avella’s drama based on factual accounts of persecuted members of the LGBTQ community in Russia over the past decade; Mary V, a feminist exploration of Shakespeare’s Henry V; and The Blind Truth, an autobiographical musical play from blind musician Vinny St. Marten.
